Using Penny Carnival's tutorial found here, I made this booksling for our basement play area:
Here's Penny Carnival's version:
The sling is a cinch to make - it's a combination of fabric and thick dowelling. Finding the double curtain rod bracket was a bit of a challenge. Our Ikea had these ones:
A show off spot for some favorite books and fabric!

Really cute idea! I love it!
Your sling came out great! Love that fabric! Thanks for following my tutorial and linking to it. Happy new year.
Such a good idea and much more practical for us than the fabric sling shelves. It's one of those *facepalm* moments when you realize you should have thought of it. :)
I have been wanting to make one of these since that sling was first posted on...apartment therapy? a year or two ago but have not been able to find the wall space to delegate. Maybe I just have to suck it up and make a decision yes? Yours looks wonderful, I love your choice in fabrics! Also, thanks for the tip on the double curtain rod bracket, that probably would have killed the whole project for me lol.
I too have been meaning to make one of these for a really long time. Went right out to IKEA (knew they had those) after the apartment therapy post and got some of those rod holders . . . . and that's it :)
Guess I can aim to do it in 2011!!
That is really cool and definitely something I'd like to make! Thanks for the tutorial link. :)
