Sewing Like I Live In Texas

I wonder about my sanity sometimes... it's currently 20 degrees below zero in my city

And I keep churning out totally impractial things like this.  Yep, that's sheer voile (think thin hankie).  Great for the kind of weather you'd experience in, oh, India.

Do you sew impractical stuff too just to enjoy the process?

Well, you could layer it over a thermal tee. It wouldn't have quite the same spirit, but at least it would be warm!

BTW - it's supposed to get COLD here in Texas this week. It's a balmy 74 right now; high on Wednesday is predicted to be in the upper 30's.

I'm off now to dig my own thermal tees out of storage.

I had to read this, I'm in the DFW area and I got such a kick out of the post title! It is supposed to get cold here (just as Angela said) so I'm trying to get myself OUT of sewing with thin fabrics/sewing short sleeves and in to nice warm clothes....and bringing in lots of firewood! :)

Until it warms up again, happy sewing and I love the dress! I'm new to the crafting/blogging world so I'm addicted to checking out what is out there-it's my inspiration! :)

ha, ha, ha! I feel exactly the same way! And I actually made a dress yesterday out of the exact same voile. . .

Well, you could ship it off to one of us Texas girls...since it's not practical, and all. ;)

It's very pretty.

Nah...that's not impractical. It's darling and it will be perfect one day in the near future (okay, maybe not so near future). LOVE the fabrics.

LOL...I'm with the TX gals. It hit 82F here in the Houston area today. We were in shorts and shirts. Way too hot for November. Anyway, I love the dress, I wish I knew how to sew like that.

Very pretty! with a turtleneck, and warm wooly tights underneath it, not to mention a snow suit and a balaclava over it!

Eeeek! can't believe how much snow you already have....pretty! (for about a week)LOL

How cute is that!!? It's someone's Summer somewhere, I thought that when I sold a couple of short sleeve shirts on Ebay last week. All that lovely snow, very festive already! We're forecast snow in London at the end of the week, but it will probably be just a few flurries. It's unusual for us to have snow so early in the season, January is about right for us! Happy sewing like you're in Texas, it'll keep you warm in spirit! LOL :)

I have been known to start sewing swimsuits in Feb. or March here in MN when it is usually the coldest and snowiest here. Maybe it's the thought of better days to come.

Besides that, just wear it inside and pretend you are in TX. I lived there myself and loved the winters, but the summers leave a lot to be desired....way too much heat and humidity.

I am in South Texas and I think the little dress is darling. We went mini golfing today and I actually got a bit sweaty. I just had to comment because I am amused that our "cold" is still 50 degrees above your temp! Ok, sorry, I guess I'm rubbing it in a little :)
