How to Make Two-Faced Bloomers

Fear not. Bloomers are just elasticized shorts. This tutorial shows you how to make bloomers that are "two-faced". The front of the bloomers is one print, the back is another.

Take a pair of your child's shorts and fold in half like shown. This is your bloomer template. Cut out four of these - two white and two purple.
Sew each white to each purple at the inner leg seam (the short seam). Always sew with right sides together so that your seams end up on the inside.
Open up the two pieces and lay them over top of each other as shown. Sew up that big horseshoe in the middle.

Turn the shorts right side out and they will look just like shorts (imagine that). Sew up the two side seams. You should have this now:

Zigzag stitch the raw edges at the leg openings and at the waist. Turn each under and press to make a casing to thread some elastic through.
An elastic at the waist and one at each leg opening and voila - bloomers!

The tutorial for the matching halter top can be found here on my blog.

THANK YOU! Thank you thank you thank you. I have been looking high and low for easy bloomers. THANK YOU!

I have a pair sitting by my sewing machine that for the life of me I can't figure out how I'm going to sew the legs- this is SO much easier. Once again: THANK YOU!
