WINNER/GIVEAWAY The Nuthin' Vintage Dress

The winner for this giveaway - totally chosen at random by my eldest daughter - is #3 Leigh.
Six days into January and I am breaking my own resolution already... I said I was going to post all vintage stuff this month on my blog. Introducing the Nuthin' Vintage Dress.

Many of you said nice things about this dress I
made (left), so I've created a similar one for this giveaway. Oh, I could wax poetic and say that the peasant style is age-old, but truthfully this giveaway dress is made from Sandi Henderson's 2009 Portobello Pixie Claire sewing pattern. 2009 isn't exactly vintage, huh? The sleeve/hem fabric reminds me of tin ceiling tiles from the 1930s though...

It is a size 3T and ankle length. Because it is shirred and elasticized, it would easily fit a size 2T or 4 as well. The main dress fabric is a very lightweight gauze, so I lined the entire dress. Pre-washed for shrinkage; machine wash and dry.

TO ENTER: Giveaway open to everyone (overseas too. I know it's the middle of summer in Australia). To enter, leave a comment below this post. Followers can enter twice - simply leave a second post telling me you are a follower. I was going to use Random.org as usual, but my 12 year old daughter said, "Please Mom, can't I pick the winner for once?!" I nearly fell over when she said please. So there you have it. Your fate is in the hands of a Nickelback fan.

Giveaway open until the evening of Saturday January 9th, 2010. And thanks everyone. This blogging thing turned out to be far more fun than I'd have thought!

You know, I just love that dress! My MIL made one for my 19 month old for Christmas and instead of the shirring, put in elastic instead. So cute! So funny that I love this pattern... I just bought the ruffled pants pattern so that I make them for her. I would just love for Rosie to be able to wear the one you made - by summer she'll be a 3T! Thanks so much for doing this!

Wonderful dress, my daughter would love it (all dresses are PRINCESS dresses). I recently started sewing and thus, reading your blog. I haven't yet ventured past skirts, but have the pieces cut for a long-sleeved night gown to sew after our 2000 mile move. Even if I don't win, I'll have to give the pattern a try for summer.

Lisa said...

Too too cute!!!! My daughter loves dresses and between sewing diapers and chasing kids I don't get as many done as she'd like! Beautiful work. Thanks for the chance to win!
