Toddler Model vs. Homemade Dress Form

Wiggly toddler model:

Versus homemade dress form, er dress stand:

= no more blurry "model" pics! The dress stand is two pieces of dowling screwed together and mounted at the bottom to a thick piece of wood. Ta-da! I don't have a great way to display the diaper cover though.

I bought this gauzy Japanese import fabric back in the summer, but waited until it was 25 below to make this dress. I am a little bit in *love* with the fabric, not just the colors, but the feel of it!

Love the dress and I can see the reason for your "love". What a great idea for the dress stand. Toddlers are cute but sure are hard to photograph. Great job on the dress!

PS what pattern did you use?

LOVE this! I have a toddler that is hard to photograph, so I share your pain. (Although, aren't the blurry photos just as fun and even more representative of who they are in that moment? Or is it just me?)

Can you share what pattern you used? Pretty please? :)

but i love that little model! (though it's nice to see the actual dress as well without the "blur of chasing") (:

Sorry, I didn't use any pattern here, but ANY peasant dress pattern could be substituted. The blue band around the middle is a separate piece of fabric about 4 inches wide, and I inserted a waistband elastic through it after sewing it on.

The colors look beautiful together. And I'm glad someone else has a wiggly little ghost model :) That's what my husband says when our youngest blurs in photographs, she looks like a sneaky little ghost. Ha!

Maybe better than a tutorial?? There's one in the works for a giveaway.

My kids are still hard to photograph, even the 14 year old, they just don't stand still for long enough.

The dress is beautiful, what amazing fabric.

Thanks for the tips! I think I also have a dress I can use as a template. A giveaway will be nice too of course :)
