The Tutu Dress

I've seen a few of these tutu skirts floating around on the internet, but I got the idea for this particular one here on Dana's blog MADE. I thought it was worth a post since we can't all read every blog, and it's so much fun to make (and wear!)

Similar to Dana's refashion, I took a tank top I already had and added the skirt from new materials. The blue underskirt is plain cotton. I made my ruffles with long pieces of lightweight tulle. Instead of pregathering the tulle, I simply fed it through the machine, gathering it with my fingers. Once I had the skirt sewed togther, I attached it to the tank top. This is a dress that gets lots of attention, and I am pleased to report that the tulle machine washes just fine.
